2022: Raisio sold its Russian business to Kopeker Agro for 1.5 million euros

On May 13, 2022, the Finnish company Raisio, which produced cereal, porridge and muesli on the Russian market under the Nordic brand, announced the sale of its business in the Russian Federation. The assets were bought by Kopeker Agro, which is engaged in the production of packaging and packaging products. The value of the transaction, which has already been closed, amounted to 1.5 million euros. It is not specified whether porridge, musli and cookies under another brand will now be sold.

As a result of the sale of business in Russia, Raisio received a loss of about 3.6 million euros, of which the loss from depreciation amounted to 2.9 million euros in the first quarter of 2022. The rights to the Nordic trademark in Russia and Belarus were sold to the Estonian company Nordgate Trading Ou.

Raisio also exported fish feed from the Raisioaqua division in Finland. In early March 2022, this business was suspended. It is specified that Russia accounted for about 65% of the supplies of the Raisioaqua division (specializing in the export of fish). In the same month, Raisio withdrew its annual forecast for 2022. The reason for this decision was Russia's special operation in Ukraine, a rapid increase in grain prices, as well as uncertainty about raw materials.

"Raisioaqua products and the Russian food market were not the focus of our strategy, so we do not consider it necessary to significantly change the direction," the company said.

Kopeker Agro LLC was registered in Serpukhov in 2016. According to its own data, this is "one of the leaders in the Russian market for contract production and packaging of food products." Among its customers, Raisio is also listed, its Nordic products are packaged at the enterprise. There are nine lines in production. The founders are Julia Hodan (1%) and Kopaker LLC (99%).
