2021: US Large Plant Launch Plan
In September 2021, Redwood Materials, led by Tesla co-founder JB Straubel, plans to build a new large plant to move the $25 billion battery supply chain from Asia to the United States.
This enterprise worth more than $1 billion will allow Redwood to become the largest producer of cathodes in the United States.
By the end of 2025, the American plant should produce material for 100 gigawatt-hours of batteries per year. This will be enough for about 1.3 million cars a year, along with the largest manufacturers in Asia. According to him, by 2030 the capacity of the same enterprise will increase to 500 gigawatt-hours per year.
