On December 20, 2021, GBUZ TO "Regional Hospital No. 12," which provides primary health care to the population of Zavodoukovsky and Uporovsky districts of the Tyumen region at the outpatient and inpatient stages, was fined 800 thousand rubles by the local court for a medical error.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the judicial system of the Tyumen region, the incident occurred in mid-December 2019. The 19-year-old boy fell in an attack of epilepsy, hit his head and was injured.

A day later, the young man fell into a coma and only after that the doctors operated on him. However, it was not possible to save the young man.

After the death of her son, the Russian woman filed a lawsuit for compensation for non-pecuniary damage. The court found that due to problems with the diagnosis of the head injury that the guy suffered, it progressed and led to death.

An incorrectly established diagnosis led to incorrect and untimely execution of medical measures. At the same time, these defects delayed the start of treatment for head injury, which contributed to its unhindered flow and the progress of complications, the court found.

Having considered the case, the Zavodoukovsky district court partially satisfied the woman's claim for compensation for non-pecuniary damage - the plaintiff demanded 5 million rubles. The court ordered the hospital to pay 800 thousand rubles in compensation for non-pecuniary damage to a local resident, who lost her son due to poor-quality medical care. The hospital does not agree with the verdict of the court.

According to local data, residents of Siberian regions regularly complain about the poor quality of medical care. As a rule, they make official applications to the courts and departments only in the event of the death of relatives. Doctors themselves report that they are doing everything possible in conditions of an acute shortage of personnel.[1]
