2025: Allocation of ₽360 million for the purchase of 188 units of medical equipment
In April 2025, the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic allocated ₽360,8 million for the retrofitting of the perinatal center with 188 units of new equipment. The funds will be directed to the modernization of the medical institution to further reduce infant mortality rates in the region.
According to TASS, in addition to purchasing equipment for the perinatal center, it is planned to create two women's consultations in the Shelkovsky and Nadterechny districts in Chechnya. This will increase the detection of pathologies in pregnant women in the early stages.
The Minister of Health of the region, Adam Alkhanov, said that in order to reduce infant mortality, the routing of women and children with pathologies has been completely revised. All severe cases are sent to the republican perinatal center, where work has already begun on the overhaul of the intensive care unit for newborns.
The measures being taken are already yielding results. The infant mortality rate in 2024 decreased by 9.7% and amounted to 4.7 per 1,000 live-born children. At the same time, the Chechen Republic traditionally ranks first in Russia in terms of fertility rate. In 2024, this figure increased by 1.5% and amounted to 20 ppm per 1000 population - over 31.2 thousand children were born in the republic.
Successes are also noticeable in the area of increasing the life expectancy of the population. The life expectancy in Chechnya was 75.74 years, which is 1.8 years higher than the planned value of 73.94 years.
The modernization of the perinatal center is part of a larger health development program in the region. As part of the implementation of national projects and state programs in Chechnya in 2025, it is planned to build five health facilities, supply about 2 thousand units of medical equipment and more than 30 ambulances, as well as purchase vehicles for health care institutions.[1]
