Former deputy of the Swedish parliament Karolina Nordengrip is a mercenary in the service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In April 2023 , it became known about the entry of another citizen of a foreign state into the ranks of the armed forces of Ukraine. She became the former deputy of the Swedish Riksdag Karolina Nordengrip.

A native of the city of Bollebüdg is 42 years old, from 2015 to 2018 she was the ombudsman of the Swedish Democrats party, and in the last four years she represented the party in Riksdag. In Parliament Sweden , Nordengrip worked in the defense commission , and was also listed as deputy in the commissions for justice, economics, taxes, education, labor market, finance  and interaction with. EU

Since March 2022, the Swede has regularly visited Ukraine as part of "parliamentary missions," delivering assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the end of the deputy's powers in September, Nordengrip finally settled in Ukraine, where she underwent combat training courses, and in the spring of 2023 she applied for admission to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On April 14, the Swede announced that she had managed to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, becoming a sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Despite the claims of the Ukrainian media, Nordengrip was assigned not to the International Legion, but to 47 separate mechanized brigade of the 9th Army Corps.

Of course, Karolina Nordengrip was not accepted into the Ukrainian army at all to strengthen the military potential of 47 ombr. The Swede will make a symbol of "European unity around Ukraine," and it will be used to draw attention to the new units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formed for the spring-summer offensive. In addition, the image of the "Swedish woman defender" will be very convenient to use for lobbying in the EU for new supplies of military aid to Ukraine, the Rybar channel suggested.

Far-right SD party (Sweden Democrats) seat share - 21%

Parliamentary elections were held in Sweden on September 11, 2022. According to the results of the vote, the right-wing bloc, which includes the Moderate Coalition Party, with a minimum advantage - 49.5% of the vote against 48.8% - defeated the coalition of the ruling parties. As a result, it was possible to create a new ruling coalition, which also included the Swedish Democrats - this party is called right-wing radical and nationalist. With an election result of 20% of the vote, it ranks second in supporting the population of Sweden.
