SAP closed office in Kiev amid special operation of Russian Armed Forces
SAP closed its office in Kiev and took security measures to support its employees, the WSJ newspaper reported, citing a comment from [1]. This happened against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine, which Russia began on February 24.
The SAP CIS told TAdviser that they do not have details about the Ukrainian office, because they are not responsible for it.
According to the rating "Top 100 IT Employers of 2021" of Ukraine, as of July 2021, about 100 people worked in the Ukrainian office of SAP[2] The team includes R&D: more than 50 employees of the local office - developers who created and improve the MES system (SAP Manufacturing Execution System), a solution for process automation in the automotive and aerospace industries[3].
In March 2021, SAP called Ukraine a strategic SAP Ukraine market[4]. The number of customers in the country exceeds 250, of which 30 are reference partners, that is, they participate in the SAP reference program. This is a program for customers: other customers who want to buy the same solution, watch a demonstration and get explanations can come to them. It provides for a bonus system.
Key industries for SAP in Ukraine: oil and gas production, energy, mines and mining, as well as steelmaking enterprises. In addition, SAP has large customers in the public sector, retail industry, pharmaceutical industry and agribusiness[5]
At the end of February 2022, SAP has not yet released an integrated annual report for 2021, its publication is scheduled for early March. In the report for 2020, SAP Ukraine was not listed on the list of SAP key legal entities. Recall that in 2020 the Russian legal entities SAP were not included in this list. They migrated to the list of "other subsidiaries," where the Ukrainian office is also listed.
