2021: BestDoctor bought "Reserve"

At the end of October 2021, it became known about the sale of the insurance company Reserve to the medtech service BestDoctor. The request for approval of the transaction, owned by Bestdoktor LLC, Cyprus Rafulia Holding Limited, was sent to the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

The BestDoctor says that after the purchase of Reserve, the company will create its own brand in the insurance market and sell DMS policies on its license, BestDoctor expects to increase its share in the DMS market from 1 to 6% within two years.

Such steps are dictated by the BestDoctor strategy to build an ecosystem of medical services, a company representative told RBC.

According to him, the company does not intend to refuse to cooperate with other insurance companies, since partners help scale the BestDoctor service.

Alexey Yanin, Managing Director of Insurance Ratings at Expert RA, believes that it is much easier to buy an existing small company with existing insurance licenses than to create an insurer from scratch, going through the entire process of obtaining licenses.

How much BestDoctor will pay for the purchase of the "Reserve," by October 28, 2021 is not reported. By the beginning of the year, the volume of assets of the insurance company was measured at $436 million, total capital - 367.4 million rubles, liabilities - $68.6 million.^[1]
