The St. Petersburg medical akademiiya of post-qualifying education is the largest center of postdegree training of medical specialists in the Northwest of the Russian Federation, and also one of the leading medical and diagnostic cents of Russia. From the moment of our opening in 1885 which became possible thanks to efforts of the Grand duchess Elena Pavlovna in our walls brilliant representatives of medical science among whom it is possible to select such outstanding figures of medicine as perform the activity: E.E. Eykhvald and M.I. Afanasyev, N.V. Sklifosovsky and G.F. Tiling, D.O. Ott, N.D. Monastyrsky, O.O. Mochutkovsky, A.K. Limberg, D.L. Romanovsky, N.A. Mikhaylov, G.V. Hlopin and others.
