2021: Sales growth by 8% up to EUR 3.25 billion

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the STADA Group continues to show growth, especially in Consumer Healthcare segments (over-the-counter drugs) and specialized drugs. Growth above the average market is also due to double-digit sales growth in Russia.

Sales grew by 8% compared to 2020 and amounted to 3.249 billion euros. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 37% to €776.5 million. Sales growth was especially noticeable in the second half of 2021 as market demand recovered. All three strategic segments of the company contributed to this process:

• Consumer Healthcare (over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, dietary supplements),
• generics and
• specialized drugs.

STADA ranks fourth among the largest European players in value terms in the segments of Consumer Healthcare and generics. During 2021, the group managed to strengthen these positions, outstripping the entire market and the leading five companies in the over-the-counter segment, while eliminating the gap from the top 3 generics retailers in Europe. At the same time, STADA is actively expanding the range of specialized drugs and developing a portfolio of products including drugs for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and biosimilars.

1895: Foundation of a cooperative of pharmacists in Dresden

The company was founded in 1895 in Dresden as a cooperative of pharmacists engaged in the development and production of medicines. Initially, the name STADA was an abbreviation for Standardarzneimittel Deutscher Apotheker, which in Russian means "Standard for drugs of German pharmacies."
