2023: Agreement on the creation of a Safari Park for 18 billion rubles

On June 15, 2023, the Туризм.РФ Corporation and the Zapashny Brothers Circus signed an agreement on the construction of Russia's first tourist and recreational cluster Safari Park. He will appear in the Kaluga region. Investments in the project will exceed 18 billion rubles, the area of ​ ​ the object will be 200 hectares, the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha wrote on his page in Vkontakte.

It will have our national animals: tigers, bears, wolves. Conditions have been created for the placement of marine life. And even elephants. It is planned to develop recreational areas, an amusement park, and hospitality infrastructure here, he said.

According to Edgard Zapashny, they began to implement the idea of ​ ​ creating a natural safari park with their trainer brother Askold two years ago.

This is our idea with my brother, which we were able to start implementing in the past two years. Understanding how it will all look is already there, everything will soon appear in the public domain. The agreement has only been signed, it is designed for two stages: 2027 and 2031, - Edgard Zapashny told reporters in mid-June 2023.

He added that elephants from Myanmar will undoubtedly become the center of attraction of the new cluster, since the country today has no more than 20 elephants. In the future, the emphasis will be on "national animals," including tigers, bears, wolves, as well as ungulates and many others.

The goal of the project, which will be implemented as a public-private partnership, is to create the country's first world-class multifunctional complex for organizing leisure and family vacations, which will become one of the points of development of the Kaluga region and interregional space. Safari Park will be located on the territory of the Borovsky district.^[1]
