Installation of a sliding individual hip endoprosthesis of domestic production
On December 19, 2023 Samarastatemedical , the University (SamGMU) announced the installation of the first domestic sliding in Russia. endoprosthesis Previously, only two foreign companies produced such implants.
We have developed a magnetic gearbox that is spun by an external magnetic field, resulting in a telescopic increase in the length of the femoral component of the endoprosthesis into which it will be embedded. The design of our endoprosthesis differs from analogues and allows you to preserve more healthy tissues, - said Andrei Nikolaenko, director of the Research Institute of Bionics and Personalized Medicine at SamGMU. |
According to the press service of the Samara university, the first endoprosthesis was installed in a man with a complex case of aseptic instability of the components of the hip endoprosthesis and a significant leg shortening by 6 cm. The patient developed complications and a significant leg shortening - by six centimeters. Samara removed the components of the old endoprosthesis and installed a new one. The operation lasted five and a half hours.
Subsequently, doctors will be able to non-invasively lengthen the patient's limb by several centimeters. This process will take place in several stages. By December 19, 2023, the man is doing well and is under the supervision of doctors.
It is expected that the design of endoprostheses developed by Samara scientists will have great demand in a number of areas, including in patients with bone oncology, in pediatric reconstructive orthopedics and in other diseases.
The creation of the first domestic sliding endoprosthesis in SamGMU is the most important step in achieving our common goal - the formation of the country's technological sovereignty in the field of health care, - said the rector of SamGMU, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Alexander Kolsanov.[1] |
Creation of a federal competence center for virtual and augmented reality technologies
Minister of Health RFMikhail Murashko signed an order to create a federal competence center for virtual (VR) and augmented reality ( AR) technologies in Russia on the basis of Samara State Medical University. The press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced this on June 27, 2023. Read more here.
2022: Launch of rehabilitation simulators and surgical navigation systems
In mid-November 2022, the Minister of Health RFMikhail Murashko and the Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov opened in the region the production of medical devices developed by Samara Medical University (SamGMU).
As the press service of the regional government, the production site has launched the production of simulators for rehabilitation, implants for endoprosthetics from titanium, as well as surgical navigation systems.
This is a certain stage of a lot of work. First, a center for breakthrough, innovative technologies was created. The next step is the engineering center, development, implementation. And now - mass production. This is a huge step forward, it is building a technological chain, the production of the final product, which is aimed at the health of people, - the words of the head of the region are quoted in the message. |
In the future, the university plans to establish mass production of medical components, including repair kits for medical equipment. Prototypes of products are currently developed.
It is important that we ourselves, being their developers, ideologists, produce these designs. This allows our young doctors who want to devote their lives, including the development of medicine, to development, starting from the school bench, to join the development, production, use and operation of equipment, the press service of Murashko quotes. |
The site can also be used to produce equipment for university partners.
The SamGMU breakthrough research center showed the Autoplan surgical navigation system, which is used for preoperative planning and intraoperative surgical navigation based on optical infrared tracking and augmented reality technology. Also, the Minister of Health was shown an interactive 3D anatomical table "Pies": a highly detailed atlas that allows you to work interactively with three-dimensional models of human organs in normal and pathology. This equipment is supplied to Russian educational institutions, as well as to other countries.[2]
2020: Development of artificial intelligence for medicine in conjunction with MTS
On February 6, 2020, MTS and Samara State Medical University (SamGMU) announced the launch of an artificial intelligence laboratory. First of all, AI technologies for the primary diagnosis of patients and systems for automatic conversion of voice into text for doctors will develop there.
Projects should significantly facilitate the work of medical specialists who spend a lot of time filling out various documents. Speech recognition and text conversion technology will free it up for closer examination of patients and a more accurate diagnosis.
The creation of an artificial intelligence laboratory together with MTS will allow us to develop projects that will facilitate the work of medical specialists. Doctors fill out a large number of documents, whereas this time could be devoted to a more detailed examination of the patient and the diagnosis. In addition, systems for supporting decision-making based on artificial intelligence technologies will help them in this, "said Alexander Kolsanov, rector of Samara State Medical University. |
According to Arkady Sandler, head of the MTS Center for Artificial Intelligence, together with SamGMU, research will be carried out on the possibilities of using artificial intelligence technologies in medicine.
The opening of the laboratory will begin the integration of innovative technologies into healthcare and the creation of new products in the field of medicine. The research and practical activities of the laboratory will become a parallel to the national project "Healthcare," which was launched in 2019, and will serve its goal - to increase the efficiency of the healthcare system through the introduction of digital technologies and the creation of platform solutions, he stressed.[3] |
