The main richness of SAMGTU – the highly skilled research and pedagogical collective having the huge potential for carrying out basic researches on creation of new high technologies and training in new specialties of engineering employees of convertible productions. The university solves the most important problems of target utilization of elements of ammunition, military equipment, processing of military gunpowder in consumer goods, emergency responses on gas - and oil pipelines, normalization of an ecological situation of the Samara region, etc. The university develops the international cooperation, has agreements with the universities of Great Britain, France, participates in a number of the international programs of development of education. The most important basic principle of SAMGTU is the unity of training, scientific research and engineering developments.

The Samara state technical university' and "The Samara state architectural and construction university'" was attached by SAMGASU (who in 1955 — 1990 had the name the Kuibyshev construction institute (KUISI)) to SAMGTU
