History

2018: Twilio purchased SendGrid for $2 billion

On October 15, 2018 the supplier of cloud services of Twilio announced acquisition of SendGrid for $2 billion. After the announcement of this transaction which is going to be closed in the first half of 2019 the quotations of SendGrid jumped by 17%, and securities of Twilio rose in price for 1.5% according to the results of the substantive exchange session and then fell in price by 4% during electronic biddings.

In Twilio reported that purchase of SendGrid will allow developers "manage all important communication links - a voice communication, messages, video, and now and e-mail".

Added to the companies that acquisition of SendGrid is the profitable transaction as development of own services e-mail requires considerable efforts.

To the middle of October, 2018 at Twilio and SendGrid few joint clients, and Twilio gain more income from one user. Initially SendGrid will work as separate division and to sell to clients including Twilio services.[1]
