2021: Sonova bought Sennheiser Consumer Electronics for 200 million euros
On May 7, 2021, Sonova, which calls itself the world's largest producer of hearing aids, announced the acquisition of a consumer products division from Sennheiser for 200 million euros.
Sennheiser specializes in headphones and headsets, the company's products are widely represented on the Russian market. About 600 people are involved in the consumer business (all of them must go to Sonova after approval with the unions), and the annual sales volume in it is 250 million euros.
After closing the deal with Sonova (expected during 2021), Sennheiser will have three business divisions: Pro Audio, Business Communications and Neumann microphones. According to the terms of the contract, Sonova will receive the right to use the Sennheiser brand in the production of acoustic systems and headphones.

Earlier in 2021, Sennheiser announced the search for a buyer or investor to develop a consumer division, which has recently caused losses, not coping with the onslaught of competitors. As it became known today, the company found a partner about whom it "could not dream."
According to Reuters, Sonova specializes in creating devices for people with significant hearing loss - mainly for the elderly. By buying Sennheiser assets, the Swiss company hopes to expand the audience of users of its products and attract young customers who actively use headphones to listen to music and communicate by phone.[1]
