Sindbad Travel International (STI) is a group of three companies. Enter into it:

  • "The center of the International Exchanges" — work and training abroad,
  • Turcentre – the air tickets and bus tickets offered Sindbad, armoring of hotels, insurance abroad and
  • service center of corporate clients of Sindbad Lufthansa City Center.

History

1995: Foundation of the company

  • On April 12 — the Sindbad company was born.
  • The company was connected to a booking system of tickets Smart Amadeus.
  • The first staff of Sindbad is trained in Stockholm.
  • The Russia's first student ID card of British Airways to London is sold.
  • The first agency agreements with airlines Finnair, Swiss, Lufthansa are signed.
  • In a year 800 ISIC cards are issued.

1996: The first version of the website sindbad.ru

  • Entered FIYTO (International federation of the youth tourist organizations), were entitled the official agency RUHA (The Russian association of young travelers).
  • The agreement with Pulkovo airline is signed.
  • The program on the German wave and a plot on the Russian television about Sindbad.
  • Sindbad gained the lead sales of several western carriers.

1997: Department of corporate service

1998: Opening of office Sindbad in SPbSU

1999

2000

2002: Membership in IATA

  • Start of the Work&Travel USA program.
  • Sindbad is accepted in members of IATA.
  • The ISIC St. Petersburg project is created.
  • The daily presentations of the ISIC program in higher education institutions of the city.
  • Start of the ISIC-VISA joint project with Promstroibank.
  • The first students went to the USA to summer vacation according to the Work&Travel USA program.
  • Lufthansa awards Sindbad a rank "Senator Agent", and British Airways — "Brilliant Agent".
  • The company sent the train to Moscow to Maxidrome.

2003

The beginning of regular lectures on youth travel at schools of the city. The organization of tender of the children's drawing at schools of the city "St. Petersburg is the city of my dream" together with Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines. Participation in L. Parfyonov's program "Recently" devoted to the 300 anniversary of St. Petersburg. The agreement on an online service with GDS Amadeus is signed. 300 companies actively participate in the ISIC system.

2004

The department of corporate service was included into the international network "Lufthansa City Center". The St. Petersburg's first electronic student ID card on route Moscow-London is issued. The corporate school is open. The company performs 30% of the sales volume of ISIC across Russia. It is registered own by media — the ISIC-St. Petersburg-Life magazine. The ISIC distribution network in St. Petersburg makes 60 points. The company became the Regional Center ISTC, the first in the territory of Russia. Work&Travel in Chelyabinsk, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk and Pskov. The Center of the International Exchange is created. The first clients according to educational programs are sent to Great Britain. The Camp America program — work as leaders in summer children's camps of the USA is started.

2005

2006

Creation of the ISIC Data Base. The transport application to the ISIC card — ISIC also BSK is started now. Participation in Rocky Festival. The first priklyuchenets on the GAP-adventures project are sent. The center of the International Exchanges for the first time sent students to Canada. We entered a pilot project of BSP-RUSSIA. The e-ticket — already reality. Awards from British Airways of "Most creative travel agency 05/06"; Lufthansa of "Golden Agent", SAS of "Bronze Partner" and SN Brussels "Gratitude for Effective Cooperation".

2007

On the website of the company the first tool for online armoring of air tickets based on GDS Galileo is started. A lot of work in the field of development of IT technologies: the system of computer testing of employees for check of professional knowledge, creation of the processing system of requests of clients considering each appeal of the client to our company is implemented. The Russia's first e-ticket through GDS Galileo is issued. At the initiative of Sindbad in Russia the association of the LCC agencies which included 20 agencies is created. Directors of our company entered into the management of this association. On annual world Assembly of the LCC agencies the department of Sindbad LCC was recognized by the most active agency Lufthansa City Center in the world and awarded ranks Most Active Agency 2007.

2008

Transition to GDS Galileo to record-breaking short term (less than a month) is performed. Sales growth at the end of year made more than 35%. Awards from Air France-KLM for the 3rd place selling tickets at the end of 2007-2008. The diploma of "For the excellent performance and outstanding results in 2008" from Swiss airline.

2009

On sindbad.ru the new version of online armoring of air tickets based on Galileo Web Services is started. sindbad.ru The automatic statement of air tickets if you pay with the bank card begins to work. Due to growth of online sales the company successfully endures crisis. The five-year development strategy of the company as leading player in the market of Internet sales of air transportation is developed.

2010

Integration of the website of the company with domestic and foreign metasearch engines. The beginning of cooperation with the system of QIWI on acceptance of instant payments for air tickets. Release of a broadcast series about aviatravel on radio "Business FM". The number of online sales for the first time exceeds quantity offline sales. The technical director of the company of Travelport (GDS Galileo) conducts a four-hour tour in own data center (Atlanta, the USA) for employees of sindbad.ru sindbad.ru employees The company receives the status of representative office of Lufthansa airline. The application for purchase of air tickets via Apple iPad is developed.

2011

  • On the website there are special student fares and youth which are valid for card owners of ISIC,IYTC,ITIC.
  • Kot pilot becomes a mascot of our command. The logo and corporate style are developed by Turbomilk company.

  • The diploma "Best agent" for outstanding achievements in the field of sale of air tickets Airberlin Group.
  • The diploma "The best agency of 2011" from China Southern Airlines.
  • The III place according to the results of sales from Lufthansa Group.
