The founder of the Skywell brand was Chinese entrepreneur Stephen Won in 2010, shortly after his release, he created Skywell. Wong then bought an 80% stake in the bus company King Long and set up his own production of electric buses and minivans for the Skywell-branded delivery service. By 2016, it produced more than 10 thousand units of products per year. Skywell buses have gained a reputation for eco-friendly transport, and therefore they are willingly purchased in different countries of the world, including the United States. In 2018, Skywell became the main supplier of electric vehicles in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, in 2019 it took second place in the production of commercial electric vehicles in all of China.

History

2022: Opening of a representative office in Russia

Chinese electric car manufacturer Skywell has opened a representative office in Russia. The company announced this on September 26, 2022.

According to TASS, citing the Skywell press service, the automaker plans to develop a dealer network throughout the country, as well as provide after-sales warranty and post-warranty service for cars.

Skywell electric crossover ET5

The first model of the Chinese company in the Russian market will be Skywell ET5. This front-wheel drive crossover with a 204-horsepower electric motor and a 72 kWh battery with a range of up to 520 km will go on sale at the end of October 2022. Two configurations of the model are promised: the Comfort version will cost from 4.4 million rubles, and the flagship version of Luxury is estimated at 4.9 million rubles.

Options include a panoramic roof, laser headlights and an autonomous driving system. According to the developers, with the help of a fast charging station, the battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes

The Skywell HT-i hybrid crossover is scheduled to enter the Russian market in 2023. During the year, the company plans to open 30 dealerships in large cities, million-plus cities in Russia and sell more than 3 thousand cars, Skywell said at the end of September 2022.

Skywell branded dealerships will be opened in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Krasnodar and other large cities of Russia. Buying in dealerships will not be the only way to purchase an electric car. The company claims the possibility of online sales with delivery throughout the country.

Electric crossovers Skywell is sold in 42 countries. Among them are Canada, Korea, USA Croatia, Germany Spain and Israel (by September 2022). Cars are assembled in the PRC.[1]
