2018: A victory at the tender Microsoft Imagine CUP

At the end of July, 2018 the smartARM company which developed a self-training robotic prosthesis of a hand won the international technology contest Microsoft Imagine CUP 2018.

As an award for the first place the startup was given $130 thousand and also provided an opportunity to meet the head of Microsoft Satya Nadella. It is possible that this meeting will open new opportunities for smartARM, and developers will be able to make the product mass.

In smartARM develop the bionic hand equipped by the camera which is responsible for object recognition. The artificial intelligence used in a prosthesis allows to calculate an optimal variant of their capture, to self-improve and perfect movements on use measure. Technologies of computer vision and machine learning which are provided from cloud infrastructure of Microsoft Azure are involved in the project. The prosthesis is printed on the 3D-printer.

In addition to smartARM, the final of the tender Imagine CUP 2018 was reached by 48 startups from 33 countries. The second place among them was taken by the Greek iCry2Talk command. It develops a system which interprets children's crying and provides to parents information on why the child cries.

The three of winners included the Chinese startup of Mediated Ear which, using algorithms of deep training, helps people to focus with a hearing disorder on the speaking person, having muffled foreign voices and sounds.

In addition to monetary prizes, the three of winners issued Microsoft Surface notebooks and certificates on replenishment of accounts of Microsoft Azure. Satya Nadella praised finalists of tender in Seattle, having told the following: "You can have just huge impact, you have great opportunities".[1]
