In 2010 the Epicor company started the cloud ERP system of Epicor Express focused on small business, and in September, 2012 announced that also mid-size enterprises can use it. Acquisition of the Solarsoft Business Systems company specializing in the same development area of ERP systems should strengthen positions of the company in the different vertical markets, analysts believe.
The Solarsoft company has about 2 thousand clients, and annual sales volume reaches 90 million dollars. After Epicor completion of the transaction firmly will take the place of one of the world's largest developers of ERP systems after Oracle, SAP and Infor. Solarsoft technologies are more specialized, than at Epicor, and focused on requirements of the enterprises of specific industries. For example, functions of tracking of products are necessary for the food companies to resolve issues with a withdrawal of goods and to that similar tasks. Therefore acquisition of Solarsoft shows in what Epicor direction she intends to develop business, analysts note. Opportunities at developers of ERP systems two: expand a horizontal scope or aim at providing specialized requests of many vertical industries.
