2021: Construction of a space launch site

In the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, a space launch site will be built jointly by Canada and Ukraine. This was announced on November 19, 2021 by the chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Volodymyr Taftai on his Facebook page.

Taftai himself, as well as Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canadian MP Sean Fraser, Canadian Space Agency President Campbell, Nova Scotia Minister of Economic Development Susan Corcum-Greek and other officials took part in the laying ceremony in Halifax City.

Ukrainians will take part in the construction of a cosmodrome in Canada

The project provides for the creation of the Spaceport Nova Scotia cosmodrome for the Cyclone-4M launch vehicle off the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, the development and production of Ukrainian DP KB South and DP Southern Machine-Building Plant. The project will be implemented by the Canadian company Maritime Launch Services (MLS).

The command center of the future space launch field will be named after Alexander Degtyarev - the former head of the DP "KB" South. "

Besides, the space agencies of Ukraine and Canada signed a joint statement in commemoration of partnership of the Ukrainian VO DP enterprises CB Youzhny, DP YuzhnyyMash with sea starting services.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Urusky said that he discussed the details of the project with the president and chief executive officer of the Canadian company Maritime Launch Services LTD Steve Mathieu.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Strategprom, within the limits of its powers, is ready to provide assistance to enterprises of the space industry of Ukraine during the implementation of this project, because it is mutually beneficial and opens up wide opportunities for both states. For his part, Steve Mathieu said that there are already preliminary agreements with companies from the United States to launch their satellites with the Ukrainian Cyclone-4M launch vehicle. The first launch is planned for approximately the end of 2023, "Urusky wrote on his Facebook page.[1]
