SKB VT Iskra is an organization in the cash register market. It was founded in 1952. Assignee of GSKTB for design of counting machines. The name SKB VT "Iskra" was assigned in 1992.

The history of the company dates back to 1952, when the State Special Design Technological Bureau for the Design of Counting Machines (GSKTB) was founded - the only enterprise working in the field of computer and cash registers for the national economy.

From the first years of the company's activity, the efforts of specialists were aimed at creating and introducing products that correspond to the world level, which allowed it to become the parent organization of the Ministry of Natural Resources in terms of the ideology of industry development. In the 60s, the most widespread use in various spheres of the country's economy was found by the billing and accounting machines developed by GSKTB (prototype of personal computers).

In the 60s... 70s, for the first time in the USSR, the company developed and introduced a matrix printer, a number of electronic cash desks, a small-sized embedded drive on a flexible magnetic disk and many other unique developments at the serial plants of Kursk, Orel, Ryazan. Then, in the 80s, the first domestic IBM-compatible computer was developed and introduced into mass production.

In the 90s, one of the main directions of the organization's work was electronic cash registers (cash registers), which became especially relevant at a new round of development of the country's economy. The package of regulatory documents developed by the company (KKM Classifier, Technical Requirements for KKM, Regulation on the Procedure for Sale, Maintenance and Repair of KKM, etc.) made it possible to create an effective system regulating the relationship between manufacturers, users and regulatory authorities in matters of KKM application, and fill various spheres of the country's economy with the most modern electronic KKM. It was Iskra that became the ideologist and developer of a new class of KKM - the fiscal registrar, which immediately gained popularity among users.
