A certain user Breach Forums put up for sale data from Chinese military intelligence and secret documents of the Taiwanese special services with a total volume of 10 GB. For this information, he wants to receive $150 thousand, which became known in mid-January 2023.

From what source the information was obtained, the cybercriminal does not specify. But excerpts from stolen documents are cited as evidence. Data leaks on Taiwanese citizens of various professions include their whereabouts, marital status, hobbies, type of character, political views, and strengths and weaknesses. In addition, the stolen information contains invoices for the work of military intelligence, reporting documentation and some other information.

For example, one of the profiles revealed by the attacker apparently belongs to a university economics professor: a man, 50, married, two children. He is described as having the "personality of a prudent leader," leading an active social life and publishing newspaper articles beyond his day teaching work. The professor's political allegiances are listed as "pro-Taiwan independence, although this is not obvious." The profile also says how and where the man was linked to an intelligence official in 2016.

Another profile revealed by the cybercriminal belongs to an unmarried woman at the age of 35. She is described as a civil servant who likes to make connections and make friends. For intelligence, the woman is of interest due to the fact that she previously worked as an administrative employee of an unnamed university and could have access to important information.

It is not specified how relevant the information put up for sale is. But it says Taiwan's law enforcement agencies have already launched an investigation into the leak of classified data.^[1]
