2020: Investments from Rotenberg

At the end of August, 2020 it became known of plans of Spyker to resume production of sports cars thanks to the investment attraction. The Russian businessmen Boris Rotenberg and Mikhail Pessis decided to enclose in the company.

According to the Autocar edition, she intends to start release of the Spyker supercars in 2021. Serial production of the C8 Preliator and B6 Venator models and also the hybrid D8 Peking-to-Paris crossover equipped with the eight-cylinder Koenigsegg engine is supposed.

For Boris Rotenberg and Mikhail Pessis it is not the first project in motorsport. The first by the end of August, 2020 owns the SMP Racing command and BR Engineering company, and Pessis founded the engineering company R-Company which is engaged in tuning of cars and production of parts from carbon fiber.

How many the Russian businessmen invest in Spyker, is not specified. It is also unknown in what sports races the company intends to participate.

It is expected that Spyker will return to motorsport thanks to partnership with the SMP Racing program. Possibly, participation in an endurance racing will allow Spyker to increase recognition of the brand after several years of oblivion. The Russian investors emphasized that they aim "display the Spyker brand in league of the best supercars in the world".[1]

1999-2015

In 1999 the rights to the Spyker brand were redeemed by Victor Müller. In 2011 the company went bankrupt. In 2015 restructuring was announced.

Spyker participated in races, being the owner of the stable of the same name of "Formula One", in a season of 2007. However in October, 2007 after a series of failures the "formular" stable was sold, three years later the financial position of Spyker worsened, and starting with the 2013th the Dutch producer sold only two cars.

In 2010 Spyker redeemed the Swedish automobile building firm Saab Automobile AB from the American corporation General Motors therefore in June, 2011 the company with the new name — Swedish Automobile N.V was created.
