2021: Francisco Partners bought Starlims
In early July 2021, the global investment company Francisco Partners announced the purchase of the Starlims lab software development business from Abbott. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The Starlims laboratory information system is a powerful multifunctional technology that is focused on improving the efficiency of quality control processes in enterprises of any industry, test centers and research laboratories. For more than 35 years, the system has been able to manage product quality control processes using innovative software tools, as well as ensure and confirm compliance with the requirements for the competence of test laboratories.
By July 2021, Abbot serves with Starlims more than 1,100 customers in 60 countries, including the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia. Starlims solutions are used by leading companies in life sciences, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, chemical and oil refining, food processing, manufacturing, the environment, health care and forensic science.
