2023: Completion of the Agrobiotechnology Center

In the Stavropol Territory, the construction of a center for agrobiotechnologies was completed. This was announced on December 26, 2023 by the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

The research site will allow scientists to fulfill a range of strategic tasks that contribute to the development of the region's agro-industrial complex. The Center for Agrobiotechnologies is an innovative research complex for 1,500 square meters. There are 7 laboratories on this area, some of which have no analogues either in the Southern Federal District or in the North Caucasus Federal District. Among them is the laboratory of PCR diagnostics of plants, created jointly with the IBH RAS, the laboratory of soil microbiology, as well as laboratories of agrochemical analysis and phytosanitary monitoring.

The capacity of the Center for Agrobiotechnology only in the first stages will allow performing about 300 studies using advanced methods and technologies. At the same time, scientists from scientific centers of Russia will participate in the work: MIPT, IBH RAS, Moscow State University, Federal Scientific Center named after Michurin, All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after Vavilov, All-Russian Research Institute of Corn, North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center, North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center for Horticulture, Viticulture, Winemaking.

The Center for Agrobiotechnologies will function as part of the Institute of Agrarian Genetics and Selection, created at the Stavropol State Agrarian University in 2023.

The construction of the Center for Agrobiotechnologies was carried out with the full support of Governor Vladimir Vladimirov. About 200 million rubles were allocated for the implementation of the project, some of which were grants under the Priority-2030 program.
