2023: Investment from Cristiano Ronaldo
On December 12, 2023, the Belarusian studio Strikerz, which develops the UFL football simulator, announced that the Portuguese striker Al-Nasra Cristiano Ronaldo was among the investors in this project. One of the most recognizable athletes in the world, along with a group of unnamed investors, invested $40 million in the creation of the game.
Strikerz was founded in 2016. The studio's website says that it has five regional offices in different parts of Europe, and the staff exceeds 200 employees. Strikerz is developing a next-generation football simulator that will provide fans with "exceptional gameplay." The product is planned to be distributed according to a shareware model. The UFL will be continuously updated without any mandatory payments or annual fees. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles.
Joining Cristiano Ronaldo as a partner and investor is a significant step forward and validation of our vision to create a game for football fans around the world. We are committed to innovation and see significant potential to change the situation in the gaming industry. Cristiano shares this vision, and we are happy to work together, "says Evgeny Nashilov, CEO of Strikerz. |
Ronaldo, who owns the most popular Instagram account (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) with 614 million subscribers, will contribute to the development of the UFL project. As of mid-December 2023, the release dates for the game were not disclosed. But developers say the project will revolutionise football simulators by offering players "unprecedented experience."[1]
