History

2019: Viagogo purchased StubHub for $4.05 billion

At the end of November, 2019 announced eBay sale of StubHub for $4.05 billion the Swiss company Viagogo which develops the service of the same name allowing to purchase tickets for different actions. It is going to close the transaction in the first quarter 2020. But at first regulators should approve it.

It is interesting that the CEO of Viagogo is Eric Baker which founded StubHub. According to him, he wanted to integrate these services long ago. Viagogo works more than in 70 countries by the end of November, 2019.

Buyers will have more wide choice of tickets, and sellers have wider network of clients. Consolidation of these two companies creates mutual advantage for fans — more choice and the best prices — Baker said.

The managing director of Viagogo Chris Miller in a conversation with BBC confirmed that this will be profitable to buyers of tickets as between sellers there will be more fierce competition.[1]
