2019: Sale of data center of Equinix company for 30 million euros

On April 23, 2019 Switch Datacenter Group  announced sale of the data center of AMS1 located in Amsterdam, Equinix company for 30 million euros. The buyer will pay acquisition of DPC by means of own means, i.e. without transfer the of actions.

This data processing center will be renamed into Equinix AM11 International Business Exchange (IBX). It is near Equinix campus where four DPCs are located.

AM11 became the 11th data center of Equinix in Holland and will interact with other platforms in the country that clients could use technology of interconnections of DPCs for joint work in digital supply chains, the press release says.

Switch Datacenter called the transaction with Equinix "a logical new step on the way to gain of the orientation in the market of wholesale services of a collocation and development of platforms under specific needs of the companies and hyper scalable clients".

Taking into account purchase of an asset of Switch Datacenter from Equinix there are more than 200 DPCs in 52 countries, and the company is the world's largest supplier of retail services of a collocation with market capitalization in $38 billion (for April 23, 2019). Wholesale and retail services differ in the volume of the consumed energy and the space size which are rented by clients in data centers.
