Symen – national park of Ethiopia with unique primacies.
The park is founded in 1969 on the area of 22,500 hectares for protection of the unique nature of Symensky mountains in the north of the Ethiopian Highlands. In the territory of the park the mountain Ras Dashen – the highest top of Ethiopia is located.
The dominating landscape types: mountain deserts, semi-deserts, savannas and also the Afro-Alpine vegetation with a treelike heather.
In the territory of national park the nubian mountain goat, the Ethiopian jackal, a leopard live, servat also various birds of prey.
Was in the Object list under the threat from 1996 to 2017 because of falling of number of protected species among which and a monkey there is a gelada.
For the end of 2019 the park is on the verge of disappearance.
