2019: Set of prisoners for work in call centers

On July 4, 2019 the Business Insider edition published article devoted to Televerde company. Journalists told how it gathers for work of prisoners to render services of sales and support of products to such IT giant as SAP, Adobe, Microsoft and Dell.

Televerde cooperates with Department of correctional facilities in Arizona and Indiana to provide with jobs in call center of the women who are in prison or already released.

The Televerde company employs for call centers of prisoners, and those are engaged in a customer support of Microsoft, SAP and Dell

Televerde claims that in 25 years of existence of the company in it about 3 thousand condemned women worked. After their exit from prison they have an opportunity to get a job in Televerde for full time. About a half of personnel in the company headquarters in Phoenix make the former prisoners (by the beginning of July, 2019).

When Televerde employs prisoners, no information about the crimes committed by them is requested. The company conforms to the rule: "Do not ask, do not speak".

To the middle of 2019 Televerde has eight call centers in five of which only the women sitting in prisons in Arizona and Indiana work. At office they are dressed in an orange prison form.

Televerde uses an hourly pay of work. The size of a salary corresponds to the minimum wage set at the federal level. Overtime work is paid for the rate exceeding basic by one and a half times. Most of prisoners work from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening.

Employees receive a third of salary after the made work at once, and it goes to the discretionary expense. A third more of earnings takes away Department of correctional facilities and the state to pay accommodation and a power supply of prisoners and also penalties, compensation of losses, a child allowance or accommodation and a power supply if it is necessary. The rest arrives on the savings account.[1]
