History

2025: Dismissal of 10% of employees due to poor sales

At the end of January 2025, it became known that Teradyne, one of the world's largest manufacturers of industrial robots, had initiated a reorganization. It provides for a reduction in the number of personnel by 10% on a global scale.

Teradyne, which includes Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots, faced difficulties amid the emerging macroeconomic situation and the deteriorating geopolitical situation. How many employees will be fired is not specified. Teradyne's website says it employs more than 1,400 people in 32 offices worldwide as of early 2025. Thus, up to 140 employees may lose their jobs. The bulk of the cuts - roughly 6% - will come from Denmark, home to the headquarters of Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots.

The robotics industry as a whole is going through difficult times. I have been working in the industrial sector for more than 25 years, and I have never seen such a significant weakening, "says Ujjwal Kumar, president of the Teradyne group.

As part of the restructuring, Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots consolidated operations in 2024, he said. At the same time, a new headquarters with an area of almost 20 thousand square meters was opened in Odense (Denmark). Kumar emphasizes that this event marks an important milestone for Teradyne, as it will help accelerate the introduction of innovations in the field of robotics. As of 2024, the company has deployed more than 80,000 advanced robotic systems on a global scale. Over $700 million has been invested in innovative developments and automation. According to Teradyne's own estimates, it controls about 34% of the cobot segment - collaborative robots.[1]

2020: Financial support for the creation of a collaborative robot center in Denmark by MiR and Universal Robots

On February 6, 2020, TAdviser became known that with the financial support of Teradyne (USA), Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) and Universal Robots ( UR) purchased a 50,000 m2 construction site in Odense, $36 million will be invested in the creation of a large kobot center in the global "capital of the Kobots." The Cobot Center is fully consistent with Teradyne's mission to further strengthen the benefits that MiR and UR have achieved globally. Read more here.
