2025: Delivery of finished food using drones
In June 2025, Aurora began delivering finished food using drones in the Sakhalin Region. The launch of the technology was part of a pilot project to introduce unmanned aircraft systems in the region. The project was implemented on behalf of the governor of the region Valery Limarenko.
According to SakhalinMedia, the drone delivers orders in 15 minutes. The delivery drone was developed by Aurora-ALS flight director Eduard Abramov. The company's design bureau plans to begin serial production of such drones in the near future. The drone was controlled remotely from the control room of the Fluffy drone port without the need for an operator at the take-off and landing point.
The commercial use of drones became possible thanks to the receipt of certification by the Wings of Sakhalin SPC from the Federal Air Transport Agency. This status confirms the company's compliance with all requirements for the operation of unmanned aircraft and opens up opportunities for commercial and specialized use of drones.
Since February 2025, the center has received the right not only to conduct test flights, but also to perform full-fledged aviation tasks in the region. Among the tasks is the delivery of goods to hard-to-reach areas of the Sakhalin region, where traditional logistics are hampered by geographical features.
Earlier, the drone made the first flight in the Kuril Islands, as part of which biomaterials were delivered to a medical institution. The test showed that drone delivery takes several minutes against the hours that patients require to travel to regional medical centers.[1]
