2020: Leak of candid photos of patients on 900 Gbytes

At the end of December, 2020 it became known that hackers stole data of the British network of cosmetology clinics on 900 GB and threaten to publish candid photos of patients before transaction. The network of Transform Hospital Group clinics confirmed the attack of a virus racketeer and informed police on violation.

Transform Hospital Group includes 11 clinics specializing in bariatric surgery of weight loss, increase in a breast, correction of nipples and correction of a nose. In September Transform Hospital Group reported that since 2019 the amount of requests for transactions increased by 25%. The CEO of network Tony Veverka noted that the splash in interest was provoked by COVID-19 pandemic as people began to look for a method without serious consequences to lose weight after the long quarantine.

We can confirm that security of our IT systems was broken. Data of payment cards of our patients were not compromised, but at this stage we recognize that personal data of some of our patients could fall into hands of malefactors, - reported the management of clinics.

The company also stated that it sent messages about cyber attack to all the clients by e-mail, and intends to contact people whose personal data could be compromised. The company also noted that many photos before and after do not include persons of patients. Nevertheless, on the web page in the Darknet the hacker group famous as REvil, stated that "intimate photos of clients" were "not the most pleasant show", and hardly patients will want that they got to open access.

REvil also known as Sodinokibi, is one of the most widespread groups of hackers racketeers. Among its large victims there is an exchanger of currency Travelex and law firm working in the field of entertainments, Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.[1]
