2025: Tutu.ru bought Travel.ru

The Russian service for travel planning Tutu.ru acquired the travel.ru domain and the trademark "Travel.ru Tourism and Travel." The transition of rights to the domain took place in August 2025, and to the trademark in November 2025.

According to Forbes, the owner of these assets was the operator of the Tutu.ru service - the New Travel Technologies company. According to the Vedomosti agency, the travel.ru domain was registered in 1997, and the travel website began working at this address in 1998. At the time of the transaction, the Travel.ru site was not updated, and its booking services were inactive.

According to Alina Akinshina, General Director of Online Patent, the cost of a domain name, given its history and recognition, can be tens or hundreds of millions of rubles, and the expert estimated the trademark at millions of rubles. Previously, the rights to the trademark belonged to LLC Tourism Technologies, and the domain was owned by the American Rus Travel Group.

According to Forbes, Tutu.ru is an online service for booking flights, train and bus tickets, as well as tours and hotels. The Company is making changes to its strategy in preparation for its initial public offering. As the RBC agency reported, in 2024 the ownership structure of the head legal entity of the service, Digits JSC, underwent changes. RBC sources reported that the Tutu.ru business was acquired by one of the major Russian banks.

According to Vedomosti, the revenue of New Tourism Technologies, owned by Digital JSC, increased by 26.9% to 9.7 billion rubles in 2024, while net profit decreased by 4.9% to 519.4 million rubles. According to RBC, at the end of 2024, the revenue of Digits JSC itself according to Russian accounting standards amounted to 1.1 billion rubles, and net profit reached 798.8 million rubles.^[1]
