2023: Company sale for £1
At the end of January 2023 the British telecommunication , Truphone, in which the businessman had previously invested, Roman Abramovich was sold for £1. It was bought by unnamed European businessmen.
The deal amounted to £1, according to the Financial Times (FT). According to her, Abramovich decided to sell the Truphone group due to the sanctions imposed on him by the British authorities and the EU countries. The Russian businessman owned 23% of Truphone. Most of the rest of the company's assets were listed as Abramovich's partners in the mining and metallurgical company Evraz - Alexander Abramov and Alexander Frolov.
According to the FT, German entrepreneur Hakan Koch, who has a used car business, and his partner Pyrros Kussios, who was previously involved in telecommunications, became the new owners of the company. British media reported that 90% of Truphone's assets should be transferred to Hakan Koch, and 10% to Pyrros Kussios. According to the FT, the ministry's approval was received in December 2022, and on January 17, 2023, the UK Financial Sanctions Authority, operating under the British Ministry of Finance, issued a license for the deal.
Truphone is developing eSim technology that allows you to connect to different providers without replacing the SIM card. According to British media, the cost of the company was estimated at £500 million ($615 million). The eSIMs integrated into the user equipment as well as the removable SIM cards are identification modules allowing identification of the user equipment in the wireless communication network. The main difference between eSIM and SIM cards familiar to everyone is that eSIM is an integral part of a mobile phone or other subscriber device.[1]
