History
2022: Entering the Russian market
On December 13, 2022, it became known about Tsingtao's full-scale entry into the Russian market. The beer of the Chinese manufacturer in the Russian Federation began to supply the Moscow Brewing Company (MPK; one of the largest players in the market).
As Kommersant writes with reference to the register of Rosaccreditation, in November 2022, IPC received a declaration of conformity for Chinese Tsingtao Premium Lager beer. According to the document, the products should be supplied in banks with a volume of 0.5 liters, the batch size is about 41.5 thousand pieces.
The IPC explained that the desire to switch to Chinese products is due to the constantly changing situation in the imported beer market. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, brewers from Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, the United States and other Western countries are gradually stopping supplies.
Sources of the publication indicate that IPC plans could be influenced by a reduction in the portfolio made up of brands such as Budweiser, Chimay, Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Prior to that, Tsingtao was also supplied to Russia, but in small volumes. Most often, this beer was sold in Chinese restaurants. According to Chinese customs, the volume of beer supplies from China to Russia from January to October 2022 increased by 12% and reached 897 thousand decaliters.
Acting President of AB InBev Efes Oraz Durdyev, speaking with the newspaper, noted that imports by December 2022 seem unstable due to certain geopolitical and logistical difficulties and the company focuses on localization and launch of new products.[1]
