The plant is part of Transmashholding CJSC, an enterprise of railway engineering in terms of production volumes. Currently, the share of TVZ products in the Russian car building market exceeds 90%.

1904: Start of production of double-decker wagons for relocation of people to the Far East

The construction of double-decker cars began in 1904 at the Tver Carriage Building Plant (Verkhne-Volzhsky Railway Materials Plant) in the interests of the International Company GIWL (in Russia it was called the International Express Express Train Company).

Such carriages were intended to relocate people to the Far East, and the first floor was intended to transport cattle.
