2026: Launch of full cable car development cycle

On January 9, 2026, during a working visit to the Tver Region, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov visited the Tverkanatdor enterprise. The company became the first in Russia to organize a full cycle of creation of cable cars - from development to production, including the production of the most important and complex components.

Denis Manturov got acquainted with the production facilities of the plant, which produces 15 cable car complexes annually, and visited a unique testing laboratory. He noted that the company has completely localized production, despite the recent start of the project.

According to Denis Manturov, additional competencies were obtained after the departure of foreign suppliers from the Russian market. He stressed that domestic engineers and designers developed not just analogues of foreign samples, but created products taking into account Russian climatic conditions and operating experience.

According to Interfax, the total investment of Tverkanatdor in the project at the Demidovo industrial park in the Konakovsky district of the Tver region amounted to 4.6 billion rubles. The full implementation of the project is scheduled for 2029.

The founder of Tverkanatdor is the Moscow company Organic Project, the beneficiary of which is one of the leading developers of tourism infrastructure Sergey Bachin.

The development of domestic production of cable cars was a response to sanctions restrictions and the departure of European manufacturers. Earlier, the Кавказ.РФ corporation pointed out the need only for mountain resorts in the North Caucasus in 15 new cable cars with detachable mounts and 15 snowcraft (specialized snow compaction machines) until 2030. In the Russian Federation, there are approximately 150 large and medium-sized ski complexes, which creates a steady demand for these products.[1]

2024: Construction of a cable car factory for ₽4 billion

Tver region The construction of a cable car production plant worth ₽4 billion has been completed. This became known at the beginning of October 2024 from the statement of the Deputy Director of the Department of Machine Tool Building and Heavy Engineering Ministry of Industry and Trade Russia Ivan Troshchenkov in Mineralnye Vody.

According to TASS, the new enterprise will begin its work in January 2025. The plant is located in the Emmauss special economic zone (SEZ), created in the Kalininsky and Konakovsky municipal districts of the Tver region.

Ivan Troshchenkov noted that the project was financed through the comprehensive investment platform of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The production capacity of the plant will be 15 units of cable cars with a detachable clamp per year.

The project is being implemented as part of the import substitution program and is designed to meet the needs of the Russian market in equipment for ski resorts and other facilities where cable cars are used.

In addition to the main production complex, industrial technology parks are being created on the territory of the Emmauss SEZ, which should contribute to the development of related industries and the creation of new jobs in the region.

Earlier, in January 2024, the governor of the Tver region Igor Rudenya and the chairman of the board of directors of Zavidovo Development, the general director of Vasta Discovery, Sergei Bachin, discussed the implementation of this project. Then it was reported that the investor is TverKanatDor LLC, specializing in the design, production and maintenance of modern cable cars.

The opening of a cable car factory is part of a broader strategy for the development of tourist infrastructure in the Tver region. The region is also implementing the Zavidovo resort project, where it is planned to create a multifunctional all-season recreation complex, including a water park, a ski slope, hotels and other facilities.[2]
