History
2023: Opening a Nuclear Medicine Center with Unique Equipment
A nuclear medicine center with unique equipment has been opened at the Sechenov University Hospital. The press service of the university announced this on February 7, 2023.
We are talking about the SPECT-CT NM/CT 860 apparatus, which, allegedly, finds foci of pathology or metastases in 10 minutes, saves patients from going to doctors for a long time, so they can quickly get to the operation. In this case, the radiation dose during the study will be minimal.
SPECT-CT NM/CT 860 contains a complete package of programs for the processing of research - there are only three like it in the world. This is a hybrid apparatus that combines the functions of a single-photon emission computed tomograph and a conventional computed tomograph. On it, you can carry out any examination existing today in radionuclide diagnostics and immediately analyze it. Thanks to it, doctors can identify diseases in the thyroid, breast or prostate gland, in the brain, bone, lymphatic systems or myocardium.
This is an apparatus for conducting scintigraphy - diagnostics using radioisotopes. This radiation study allows you to see the image of the organ: but not only its size and structure, but also to assess its work and find pathology. To do this, technetium-99m is administered to the patient - usually intravenously. The procedure is safe: the drug does not cause allergies and does not affect the patient's well-being. It accumulates in the organ or tissue under study and emits energy. The device reads it, processes it and outputs it in the form of a "photo." Already on it, a radiologist can assess pathological changes.
The conclusion is handed over to the patient so that he can transfer it to the clinician, and he decides what to do next: observe, treat the patient on an outpatient basis or send it to surgery, radiation or chemotherapy.[1]
2019: Performing abdominal aortic transplant surgery
On July 24, 2019, it became known that doctors at Sechenov University continue to actively introduce innovative approaches to clinical practice. Thanks to them, cardiac surgeons of the University Clinical Hospital No. 1 performed a rare operation for our country and saved the patient's life. Read more here.
