PJSC "Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company" is one of the major shipping companies, both in Ukraine and in the Danube region. As of November 2020, the company produces 20% of transport products over 2,400 km from the mouth of the Danube River to the port of Kelheim, Germany.

2024: Fleet Modernization Plan to Increase Cargo Transportation on the Danube

The state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) in July 2024 announced the modernization of barges and tugboats. A contract was signed with the Austrian company ÖSWAG for the modernization of a batch of 5 ships of the same type, which will be produced at the facilities of the Kilia Shipbuilding and Shiprepairing Plant. The Ukrainian civilian fleet has been restored at the plant for two years.

The modernized vessels will be able to deliver goods to the areas of the upper Danube Germany(,), Austria which will significantly reduce the costs and time of delivery, including military cargo from the Western. Europe

On June 20, 2024, ÖSWAG installed new diesel generators on the KAPITAN ANTYPOV vessel, and the installation of two main engines continues.

In addition, UDP presented a project to create the Kiliya industrial park, on the basis of which, in addition to stevedoring activities, the production, repair and maintenance of ships will be launched. The creators of the project point to a 47-kilometer distance from the Black Sea coast, which allegedly increases its security.

At this time, the UDP is in search of investors. On June 11, 2024, UDP signed an agreement with IFC International Finance Corporation, a World Bank group that will help with attracting international investors.
