History
2024: Construction of a terminal for transshipment of fertilizers in the Leningrad Region for tens of billions of rubles
On December 12, 2024, it became known that the Ultramar transport and logistics holding completed the construction of the second stage of the terminal for transshipment of fertilizers and bulk cargo in the Commercial Sea Port. Ust-Luga Leningrad Region The total investment in the project exceeded $200 million.
The marine terminal is equipped with three berths with a total front of 885.7 meters for transshipment of 12 million tons of export cargo per year. The complex includes 34 dome storage facilities for one-time storage of about 1 million tons of mineral fertilizers.
The project for the construction of a marine terminal with warehouse and railway infrastructure facilities "Ultramar" has been implemented since 2017. The first stage of the port began work in 2021. In 2022, the terminal handled 13.5 million tons of cargo.
An agreement with Rosmorport for the construction of the second stage was signed in 2022. As part of the project, the company built additional deep-sea berths with technological equipment and dredged to expand ship reception capabilities.
The terminal has an operating area of 273.2 thousand square meters. meters with a depth of at least 17.2 meters for the approach of bulk carriers of Panamax size with deadweight up to 80 thousand tons. As part of the development of the project, port capacity is planned to increase to 25 million tons per year.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, a new Port Favor dry mineral fertilizer transshipment terminal is planned to be launched in Ust-Luga. After the completion of commissioning and the opening of the first production line, the terminal should reach a design capacity of 8 million tons of mineral fertilizers per year with the prospect of increasing to 14 million tons.
Over the past three years, Ultramar, together with Rosmorport, has implemented a program to optimize port fees. The new terminal is equipped with railway infrastructure for receiving bulk cargo.[1]
