2021: Coinbase bought Unbound Security
At the end of November 2021, Coinbase crypto exchange acquired Unbound Security, a cryptosecurity service provider. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to Coinbase, the deal with Unbound Security is a very important step for the development of the trading platform. Unbound Security is a leader in blockchain security. The company has developed a unique secure multi-party computing (MPC) technology that enables secure multi-function computing. This technology simplifies the process of transferring and storing digital assets.
Cryptobirge said that the Unbound Security solution will provide Coinbase customers with effective protection for cold wallets and hot storage along with the convenience of their use.
Coinbase management claims that the presence in Israel is also a very important strategic move. This region seems promising in terms of technological development, in particular, many developers of this country are engaged in the development of MPC technology.
To continue work on the Unbound Security project, as well as the further development of MPC technology, a separate team of Israeli specialists will be formed. This team will oversee the work of the new research center. Coinbase noted that the exchange had previously opened a similar institution in India.
Coinbase plans to diversify its products and revenue sources to achieve more sustainable growth, with the exchange increasingly focusing on customer service and ease of use of the platform.[1]
