The United States Secret Service (USSS) is a US federal agency subordinate to the US Department of Homeland Security (commissioned in 2003, before that it was subordinate to the US Department of the Treasury).

The main tasks of the US Secret Service are to prevent the forgery of American money, debt obligations, other valuable documents, as well as the protection of the president, vice president, their immediate relatives, other high-ranking officials, former presidents and their spouses, presidential and vice presidential candidates, representatives of foreign countries during their visits. The secret service also investigates various types of financial fraud, identity theft and helps investigate some domestic crimes.
