2019: Opening

At the end of October, 2019 it became known that Abu Dhabi opens the AI first-ever university. The university of artificial intelligence of Mohamed bin Zaid (MBZUAI) will accept the first students in September, 2020.

The university offers programs in the AI key areas — machine learning, computer vision and natural languag processing. MBZUAI will provide to all enlisted students a complete grant and also the health insurance and accommodation. The university promises to cooperate with the leading local and world companies for the organization of training and also intends to help students at employment. It is expected that the university will allow graduate students, to the enterprises and the government of the country to advance the latest developments and technologies connected with AI.

Abu Dhabi opens the first-ever university of artificial intelligence

It is supposed also that MBZUAI will provide new model of scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence to realize AI potential for economic and social development of the country and the world in general. The board of trustees of the university included the best specialists from around the world. Besides, support of the university and trustees was undertaken by the advisory board under the leadership of Omar Al-Olami, the state minister of technologies in the field of AI.

It is predicted that the artificial intelligence should shortly completely transforms world economy, but also, according to the experts, by 2030 the contribution of artificial intelligence to GDP of the UAE will increase almost up to 14% and will become the biggest share of GDP in the Middle East.

The university is called in honor of the sheikh Muhammad bin Zaid Al Nahayan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander by armed forces of the UAE who long time supported development of the UAE using knowledge and scientific thinking.[1]
