2025: Construction in Nizhny Tagil for ₽4 billion enterprises for the production of resins for the power, automotive and machine tool industry
In Nizhny TagilSverdlovsk region, Uralkhimplast has been built for the production of foundry binders and novolac resins. Investments in the project amounted to more than ₽4 billion. This was announced on November 20, 2025 by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Denis Pasler.
According to him, production was planned to be launched earlier, but due to economic sanctions and pressure, the deadline was postponed. He noted that for 2025 all tasks were solved, including using domestic equipment.
The company will be able to annually produce 26 thousand tons of casting binders and 9 thousand tons of novolac resins. The total capacity is 35 thousand tons of products per year. Such volumes will meet the needs of a significant part of the Russian market. Casting binders are used in metallurgy to make casting molds and rods.
Novolac resins are used in various industries. They serve as the basis for the production of insulating materials, adhesives, coatings. Chemical resistance and thermal stability make them indispensable in many technological processes. Demand for these products is consistently high.
The project is aimed at import substitution. Dependence on imports of these products will be noticeably reduced. Resins are required in the fields of power, automotive, machine tool, construction and other industries. Until 2022, a significant part of such materials was supplied from abroad. Sanctions have disrupted supply chains.
In power engineering, resins are used to produce electrical insulating materials. Transformers, electric motors, generators require reliable winding insulation. The automotive industry uses resins in the production of composite parts, friction materials, adhesives. Machine tools use them to make cast parts of machines and equipment.[1]
