2025: New ₽5,5 Billion Terminal Construction

A new passenger terminal of internal lines with an area of ​ ​ 13.7 thousand square meters. m was built at the Voronezh airport, becoming one of the largest air terminals in the Central Federal District. The completion of the project worth about 5.5 billion rubles on February 12, 2025 was announced by the government of the Voronezh region. The authorities note that the launch of the terminal will increase the capacity of the airport and improve the quality of passenger service.

According to Interfax, the construction of the terminal began in December 2021. The capacity of the new complex is 600 passengers per hour, which will allow serving up to 2 million passengers per year.

The project of the new terminal of the Voronezh airport

At the meeting of the Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev with the General Director of Novaport Holding Yevgeny Yankilevich, the prospects for the reconstruction of the old terminal for servicing international flights were discussed.

Representatives of Novaport Holding consider the new terminal as a typical project that can be used for the construction of similar facilities in other regions of Russia.

According to forecasts of the airport administration, by 2030 the annual passenger traffic of the air harbor can reach 4.15 million people. For comparison, in 2021 the airport served 809.4 thousand passengers.

The new terminal is equipped with modern equipment for passenger service and baggage handling. The building has spacious waiting rooms, check-in areas, pre-flight inspection and baggage claim.

According to the publication, since February 2022, the Voronezh airport has been temporarily closed for flight services. After the resumption of flights, the new terminal will significantly expand the airport's passenger service capabilities on domestic airlines.

The construction of a new passenger terminal for internal lines at the Voronezh airport began in December 2021. The general contractor of the project was the Turkish company Limak Marash. In 2022, the project was temporarily suspended due to economic difficulties.[1]

Novaport holding will send 5 billion rubles to modernize Voronezh airport, the press service of the regional government reported in July.

By 2023, a new terminal for servicing international flights will be built in the air harbor. The project will be implemented in several stages. First, it is planned to build a domestic airline terminal, then it will be equipped with the necessary technical means for international flights and a sector for integrated passenger services from the countries of the Customs Union will be created. The area of ​ ​ the terminal will be expanded to serve promising passenger traffic.

According to preliminary data, after the commissioning of the new terminal, passenger traffic will triple, to 2.5 million people a year. At the end of 2019, the air harbor served 853.6 thousand people. In addition to the construction of a new terminal, the possibility of creating a postal hub at the Voronezh airport is being considered.
