2017: Partnership in the field of content with Lufthansa Group

On October 11, 2017 Lufthansa Group announced partnership in the field of content with the Swiss startup of Winding Tree for implementation of blockchain technologies to the sphere of tourism.

In the work Winding Tree sets as the purpose to reorganize infrastructure of distribution of offers for travelers. Using the decentralized B2B-platform for transactions on armoring, based on blockchain technologies, startups and the other companies will be able to get direct access to proposals of service providers of the tourist market, thus, excepting need of nonconstructive interaction with a great number of intermediaries. In

According to plans of Winding Tree, airline, hotels and other suppliers of tourist services will have an opportunity to place the offers on the Winding Tree platform, and the companies interested in content will be connected to the digital B2B-platform based on blockchain technologies to provide the specific proposals developed taking into account interests and needs of the clients. It will lead to emergence of a large number of travel-applications which travelers will be able to use for armoring of tickets for runs of Lufthansa Group airlines.

For financing of the first development stage of the platform and involvement of service providers on it on November 1, 2017 Winding Tree will begin sale of tokens of the Lif cryptocurrency. Lufthansa Group intends to take part in pre-sale of tokens of Lif after obtaining the corresponding permission from regulating authorities of Switzerland.

Lufthansa Group participated in development of program interfaces of applications (API), for example, supporting the NDC standard of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to have an opportunity to provide direct access to the offers to clients and partners in distribution — Markus Binkert, the senior vice president for issues of distribution and revenue management of Lufthansa Group Airlines told. — Integrating these API with the public Winding Tree blockchain platform, Lufthansa Group will give to the partners developing the advanced applications, access to the decentralized platform with proposals of travel-suppliers from which intermediaries are excluded.

Partnership with Lufthansa Group will allow us to create the applications for travelers based on blockchain technologies which are completely conforming to requirements of airlines. Besides, we will be able to check efficiency and scalability of this platform with the assistance of the largest airline of Europe — Maxim Izmaylov, the founder and the CEO of Winding Tree company emphasized.

Cooperation of Lufthansa Group with Winding Tree company became possible thanks to participation of the innovation center Lufthansa. According to representatives of Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa Innovation Hub performs as the initiator of strategic cooperation of Lufthansa Group airlines with global startups in the industry of digital technologies, being in permanent finding solutions and the technologies capable to change ideas of travel in the future.
