World Wi-Fi is the Russian project developing of the same name network decentralized free by Wi-fi on blockchain technology founded on private routers (which main part — home routers). Owners of routers can distribute the free Internet and earn cryptocurrency from advertizing in network.
The idea at the heart of the project
According to an idea of founders of World Wi-fi, owners of access points in the Internet (including owners of home routers), advertisers and normal users can become project participants of World Wi-fi. After connection of the home router to network the device will begin to distribute two networks Wi-fi, one of which will be public. Users will be able to go on-line free of charge as distribution of Wi-fi to the owner of the router will be paid by the advertisers broadcasting advertizing in World Wi-Fi of target audience.
Payment of remunerations for use of the router will be made in the WeToken cryptocurrency. The amount of remunerations, in turn, will depend directly on the number of viewings advertizing through specific access point (advertizing is broadcast to users just before Internet connection that guarantees its viewing). At the same time the owner of a point receives assignments not only from the device, but also from all routers which joined network according to its link. At the same time the World Wi-fi project also receives the commission from advertizing. Distribution of remuneration is fixed in a blockchain.
Advertisers, in turn, will be able effectively to target advertizing, showing declarations to that user group to which they are really interesting (the choice of audience can be made based on social and demographic data and history of the previous campaigns). In return, World Wi-Fi will provide to advertisers statistics on target audience, the advertized goods, conversion and target actions. The analytics will also be fixed in a blockchain.
History
2017: Attraction of $2 million investments
As it became known in February, 2018, the Russian decentralized network of access points in the Internet of World Wi-fi attracted $2 million investments from Mazalt Group. Funds were raised in November, 2017.
As of February, 2018, developers test the demoversion of network to which 100 routers are connected. It is planned that at the beginning of March the network will be ready to alpha testing. Start of the full version is planned for April-June, 2018. In three years authors of the project are going to connect 20 million routers to World Wi-Fi. Both public access points, and home routers will be connected to World Wi-Fi worldwide.
The Russian entrepreneurs Jan Sepiashvili and Ilya Yashin became co-founders of the World Wi-fi project. Further the network will include also other their projects — Radius Wi-Fi (specializes in providing the softwares public networks Wi-fi for identification of users by the phone number) and Adrenta (the automated service for holding advertizing campaigns in public networks Wi-fi which works by the principle of "one window"). According to developers, in 2017 the quantity of points of Wi-fi connected to the projects stated above grew by 784%. In total networks of projects cover 80 cities.[1]
