The Skartel company working under the Yota brand opened in April, 2018 in St. Petersburg technopark of Yota Lab. The project is implemented together with the St. Petersburg entrepreneur Evgeny Gudov who became the CEO[1].

Before Gudov already opened Planetarium No. 1 which he calls the largest planetarium in Europe in St. Petersburg. An object is based on the former gas-holder plant.

The plant was open in the 1800th years, but at the beginning of the 20th century was closed. Since then back was empty, and during the Siege of Leningrad several shells got to it. Gudov reconstructed the building and opened in it planetarium.

Yota Lab was located in the same complex of objects, in the former building of employees of the gas-holder plant. The joint investments of Skartel and Gudov in this project made 100 million rubles.

The chief operating officer of Skartel Vladimir Dobrynin emphasized that Yota Lab is not commercial partnership. Skartel has in it no share and will not participate in profit distribution.

The premises of Yota Lab will be separated into a "net" and "dirty" zone. In "a net zone" residents of technopark will sit at a glass partition. The "dirty" zone will be available to visitors who will be able to watch work in Yota Lab, to test the innovation products and also to attend seminars and lectures.
