2025: Shipyard launch for ₽6,3 billion

In the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the first stage of the Zhatai shipyard was opened, for the construction of which ₽6,3 billion were allocated. The launch ceremony of the production complex took place at the end of April 2025 and was timed to coincide with the Republic Day.

According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the construction of the shipyard lasted 6 years and was associated with overcoming a number of technical difficulties associated primarily with the climatic characteristics of the region. The head of Yakutia, Aysen Nikolaev, noted at the opening ceremony that, despite many difficulties, the first stage of the project was successfully completed, and the construction of river-sea vessels was already beginning.

One of the main technical tasks in the creation of the shipyard was to solve the problem of permafrost. Vlad Permyakov, director of the Zhatai shipyard, said that for this, during the construction of a huge production building, a system of thermal stabilization of the soil was used. Pipes with circulating freon are laid under the structure at different depths, which prevents thawing of the permafrost and excludes the subsidence of the structure. This engineering solution makes the Zhatai shipyard a unique object of global scale.

According to the project plans, the enterprise will build 10 shallow river vessels of various types and appointments per year. Reaching full capacity is planned after the completion of the second phase of construction. Nevertheless, already now at the shipyard the construction of the first ships is beginning - a non-self-propelled bilge barge of the river-sea class 114 meters long for the Lensky United River Shipping Company and a small-tonnage ferry 19 meters long for the administration of the Suntarsky district.

By April 2025, the enterprise employs about 60 people. As production capacity increases, the number of employees will increase to 400 people. To provide housing for workers, a hostel is being built, which is at the final stage, and it is planned to build a residential building.[1]
