2023: Hackers disable the sites of the Central Bank and seven banks

On January 10, 2023, it became known that attackers had disrupted the websites of the central bank Denmark and seven private banks in the country.

Cybercriminals organized several DDoS attacks at once. In addition to banks, Bankdata, a company specializing in the development of IT solutions for the financial industry, suffered. The cyber campaign in particular has affected Jyske Bank and Sydbank, Denmark's two largest banks. It is noted that on January 10, 2023, the Internet resources of the attacked organizations worked intermittently. This was confirmed by representatives of private banks. At the same time, the Central Bank said that its website, after a short period of inaccessibility, functioned relatively stably, and other systems were not affected.

According to the BankinfoSecurity resource, the hacker group NoName057 (16) is behind DDoS attacks. It coordinates with several subgroups to conduct attacks on the selected target. On August 15, 2022, members of NoName057 (16) launched the DDosia project to organize DDos attacks by volunteers. And already in early September of the same year, the attackers paid the first rewards to the most active participants. In its Telegram channel, the NoName057 group (16) confirmed the conduct of DDoS attacks on key Danish banks: Sparekassen Sjælland-Fyn and Bankinvest were named as targets in addition to Jyske Bank and Sydbank. Some of these banks had online banking systems unavailable for some time as a result of the attack.

Earlier, the NoName057 group (16), which appeared in March 2022, carried out attacks on various organizations and institutions in a number of other countries, including Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Finland and Italy. In addition, American structures were attacked[1]
